Low-pressure casting

Low-pressure permanent mould casting is a manufacturing process for light metal castings with particularly high requirements in terms of strength, elongation, pressure tightness and weldability.

In the low-pressure chill casting process, the metal mould is filled from below through a riser tube using a slight overpressure. This guarantees a smooth mould filling with a clean melt, enabling us to achieve even higher mechanical properties and improved material integrity.

Advantages of the
low-pressure permanent mould casting process

Low-pressure permanent mould casting offers you the following advantages, among others.

Complex geometries

Even more complex geometries and thinner wall thicknesses than gravity die casting and more precise than die casting.

High mechanical characteristics

Optimum microstructure properties due to pressure feeding result in optimum strength and elongation properties.

Highest quality level

Due to the clean melt and extremely low-turbulence mould filling there is a low risk of porosity and inclusions.

Economical production

High degree of automation of the casting process through the use of modern low-pressure casting systems.

Precise low-pressure permanent mould casting

MWS also demonstrates its capabilities in low-pressure die casting. We supply dimensionally accurate cast parts from permanent metal moulds of the highest quality. Due to the use of sand cores in low-pressure casting, complex hollow cast structures can be produced.
